How to Prepare Your Home for a Bond Clean (And Get Your Bond Back)

Here's a straightforward guide on how to prepare your home so your professional bond clean goes smoothly and you get every cent of your bond back.
1. Remove All Belongings First
This is the most important step. Your property must be completely empty — furniture, personal items, food from cupboards, everything — before the cleaners arrive. Cleaning around furniture is not a bond clean; it's a maintenance clean. Property managers inspect every surface, including inside cupboards and under beds.
2. Sort Out Any Repairs
Bond cleans cover cleaning only — not repairs. If there are holes in walls, broken light switches, damaged blinds or other maintenance issues, arrange for these to be fixed before your inspection. A sparkling clean property with obvious damage will still fail.
3. Make Sure Utilities Are Connected
Your professional cleaners need power (for vacuums) and hot water (for mopping and scrubbing). Don't disconnect these before your clean is done. Notify your electricity and water providers to disconnect after your handover date.
4. Point Out Problem Areas When You Book
